Spring is the time to open the windows and let the fresh air in. You’ve been cooped up for the winter, and everything is stale, including your cleaning routine. Spring cleaning is the term used to describe the deep clean that homeowners perform to get their home in shape for entertaining in the spring and summertime. Gather the mop, broom, and gloves because we’re going to touch surfaces that have been neglected. At Floor Craft Sanding Hardwood Restoration & Installation, we’re the experts in floor care and maintenance and are here to help with your spring cleaning to-do list.
Spring Cleaning To-Do List
1. Windows
Dust on sunny days to remove loose dirt and grime. Wash windows on overcast days starting on the shady side of the home. Wash window panes, screens, and sills.
2. Kitchen Cabinets
Cabinet exteriors bear the brunt of grease and moisture during cooking. This combination over time requires a degreasing agent that is gentle on cabinet surfaces to leave them grease-free and shiny.
3. Appliances
Clean the inside and outside of appliances including the dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, washer, and dryer. There are specially designed cleaners for each one, and spring is a great time to get them cleaned for another season of use. Clean the exterior of stainless steel appliances with 1 teaspoon dish detergent and 1-quart hot tap water wiping with the grain. Rinse and dry for a streak-free shine.
4. Grout
Grout in your tile floors is a dead giveaway that a deep clean is in order. Mix ¾ cup bleach with 1 gallon of water, and scrub the grout with a stiff brush. Let sit for 3-5 minutes, and rinse and repeat as needed.
5. Wood Floors
Your wood floors are your pride and joy accenting every season with classic beauty. You’ve done a great job of dusting and using the proper cleaners and guidelines to protect the floor and finish. Each year is a great time to schedule a professional deep clean.
